Reduce sugar carbohydrate; take bad fats out of your diet, (saturated and hydrogenated). These fats will increase the cholesterol levels and can increase the risk of heart disease. In contrast, unsaturated fats from foods like oily fish, nuts, avocados, seeds – will all help to provide health benefits.
Oily fish contains essential fatty acids- these will help to increase good cholesterol; they help support healthy functioning of the brain, the heart, in fact, all the cells of the body. When we are lacking in these good fats our cravings can increase, so when we supplement with omega 3 which is present in the foods mentioned, it can reduce cravings.
Carbohydrate and sugar breakfasts based on cereals, bread, fruit and toast can create a roller coaster with your blood sugar. Carbohydrates tend to shoot up and will flood your blood with sugar, then crash as sugar is quickly taken by the cells – leaving the excess to be stored as fat.
Chronic constipation can be a factor in weight gain. Practice good bowel habits. Make sure your water intake is adequate for your weight and height. Drink your water from glass bottles as plastic can leach harmful substances. Oestrogen being a worrying factor. Reduce or avoid alcohol, be aware of the effects of highly stimulating hot beverages: ie coffee, cocoa, and strong caffeinated tea.
Reduce tobacco – it is a highly carcinogenic substance which will add to over acidity in your body.
